In terms of layout, this house is definitely one of our most dramatic transformations. The property was bank-owned when we purchased it, and had been very uniquely remodeled by previous owners. The solution, we ultimately decided, was to create a hallway which would “communicate” to all of the bedrooms, add 66 square feet to the house to enlarge the master bedroom, relocate the kitchen, and frame-in a bonus room behind the kitchen wall. The new kitchen location meant that one of the two fireplaces would now be next to the island, so we decided to cancel that fireplace and install tall pantry cabinets in its place. We also raised the ceilings wherever possible, as we often like to do. Once the house was completed, the floor plan flowed perfectly and felt spacious and welcoming.
